Amy Adams, 50, Says She's Fully Embracing the Aging Process: 'It Gets So Much Better'
Amy Adams isn't afraid of entering the latter years of her life.
The American Hustle actress, 50, has been in the industry for decades, but she hasn't been fearful about getting older and picking up a thing or two from younger Hollywood stars.
"I learn so much from the young women that I work with,” Adams, who recently starred alongside Jenna Ortega in the upcoming Klara and the Sun film, gushed in a recent interview. “I feel like I learn more from them than they could ever learn from me. I do forget that I’m not their age sometimes. I’m like, ‘Amy, you’re 50. You’re not gonna hang!’”
When asked about the wisdom she would impart to the youth, she added, "It gets so much better! But there are things I miss: my joints working, collagen, things like that.”
Adams has always maintained a youthful spirit and has been inspired by her own child with the roles she's played. As Morning Honey previously reported, her daughter, Aviana, 14, changed the way she approached her return to playing Giselle in the Enchanted sequel.
"It changes everything, the importance of family and the focus on family," she explained of motherhood. "I know that’s what Giselle’s thinking of primarily in this film and sort of how she can be the best for her family. That’s something I identify with."
"Something I've learned, I think I learned it the minute [Aviana] was born, not to be overly personal, that I had this idea of who she was going to be and what her essence was. The journey since the moment she was born is finding out who she is, who she wants to be," Adams continued of her child, whom she shares with her husband, Darren Le Gallo. "Not even what I want for her, because of course I want the best for her, but she wants things for herself. And really learning to listen and give her that opportunity to be an autonomous being in this world is something that I have to remind myself every day as I sort of, you know, try to fix all her problems for her."
Overall, the Vice actress wants her kiddo to know how much she's benefited from becoming a parent. "I think what I want her to know about my experience of motherhood is how much she's enriched my life and made me the woman that I am today," she explained in a recent interview. "I tell her that all the time, but it's true and I'm glad that she's here tonight to get to celebrate with me."
