At the event, which was held at New York City's Lincoln Center, stars like Bradley Cooper and Rooney Mara dressed in dark tones, as did the actor's supportive ex Irina Shayk.
See their looks below.
Bradley Cooper
The Oscar winner opted for a traditional black suit and tie for the red carpet. He told Entertainment Tonight that it was "very special" to have Shayk, the mother of his 4-year-old daughter, Lea, come out for the movie screening.
Needless to say, the pair's little girl stayed home, as the neo-noir thriller is rated R.
The film centers on Stan Carlisle (Cooper), "an ambitious carny" who has a talent for manipulation. However, he gets a taste of his own medicine when he romances Dr. Lilith Ritter (Cate Blanchett), a psychiatrist who's just as dangerous.
Irina Shayk
The model stunned as usual in a pinstripe suit and a cutout leather top. She credited Burberry and designer Ricardo Tisci for the unique ensemble.
On Instagram, she revealed she attended the movie premiere alongside pal Stella Maxwell. "Double chic forev," Shayk captioned a photo of the two together on the carpet.
Rooney Mara
The Oscar nominee donned a cropped blazer over her dress, which featured a lace corseted top and full skirt.
The Guillermo del Toro-directed flick, which is based on a 1964 novel, also stars Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette and Mary Steenburgen.
So far, the movie is receiving rave reviews, with critics predicting that Cooper will earn his fifth Academy Award nomination for his work.
"There are two movies within #NightmareAlley. One makes Bradley Cooper a long overdue Oscar winner. The other puts another statue on the shelf of visionary director Guillermo del Toro," tweeted Variety's Awards Editor Clayton Davis. "Could be one, none or neither for the Academy. At minimum, production design race ended tonight."
Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Erik Davis wrote, "Guillermo del Toro’s #NightmareAlley is haunting & seductive in the way it draws you into its story about a man lost in his own long con. Steadily unsettling & wildly gripping by the end - the scenes between Bradley Cooper & Cate Blanchett are fantastic. Deliciously old fashioned."
