The Met Gala is one of the most fashion-forward charity events of the year, as A-listers, supermodels and politicians all can be seen in one venue. They all come together to showcase mind-blowing gowns and raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.

Even though the Costume Institute Benefit is a charity event, it is organized by fashion publication Vogue, which has turned it into one of the most important nights in fashion. Some of the most memorable costumes from the event have been worn by Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Zendaya and Sarah Jessica Parker.

With the head-turning moments and viral tweets, it can be shocking how amazing the attendees look while walking up the steps of one of the most iconic New York City art museums. However, even though all we get to see are photos from the night, preparation typically takes days, weeks, and for some of the events' most dedicated invitees, months.

Kardashian has shared her use of her shapewear brand SKIMS to create the snatched and curvacious silhouette she is known for. Even though the event showcases costumes, some of our favorite stars rely on facials and tightening treatments. According to People, Gabrielle Union-Wade goes to the 111Skin Pop Up in New York City to achieve a natural glow.

In an interview with W magazine, Ivan Pol opened up about how he prepares his clientele for the event. The aesthetician relies on a non-invasive radio frequency-based treatment that makes the skin look sculpted, hydrated and glowing. Pol works with Miranda Kerr, Zoe Kravitz and Laura Harrier to get them red-carpet ready.
