Chase Stokes Admits His 'Heart's Heavy' as Netflix Reveals 'Outer Banks' Will End With Fifth and Final Season
Chase Stokes is reflecting on his time on Outer Banks after it was announced it will be coming to an end.
The hunky actor, 32, took to Instagram on Monday, November 4, to react to the news that the beloved Netflix show's fifth season will be its last.
Alongside the statement shared by showrunners Josh and Jonas Pate, as well as Shannon Burke, Stokes, who plays John B, penned, "My hearts heavy writing this one.. One last ride."
"Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you ❤️It’s always gonna be Pogues 4 Life.-JBR," he concluded the heartfelt update.
In the announcement, the creators of the series, which launched in 2020, explained, "In the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time."
"From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. It seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five-season story," they continued. "With a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago. Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet.”
After the show launched during the pandemic, the series' cast members became household names. "The first season of the show felt like going and shooting an indie. It was very tight knit, so the filming of the first season felt very intimate in the best way possible," Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron, explained in a 2021 interview.
"We really vibe with our crew and our cast, obviously. We immediately had chemistry, and we immediately started hanging out, which is amazing," the blonde beauty, who dated Stokes for a brief period, gushed. "We all kind of started in the same place when we got the show and we just stuck together. We're all going through the same thing and it just helps to have people around you who understand and who are there for you."
While the actors adjusted to their newfound stardom, they also had each other to lean on through it all. "We keep each other grounded and we hype each other up. We’re all each other’s best hype man," she added.
