Ed Sheeran Says 1-Year-Old Daughter Lyra Is Doing 'Great' After COVID-19 Battle, Shares Her Latest Milestones
Ed Sheeran has returned to the music scene after a brief hiatus, but the "Shivers" crooner is more than happy to gush over his and wife Cherry Seaborn's daughter Lyra even while attending awards shows!
Last month, the British star revealed he and his little girl both caught COVID-19, but at the MTV EMAs on November 14, he assured the public that they're both back in tip-top shape.
"She's great! She's walking, she's talking," he told Entertainment Tonight. "She's at my parents at the moment and having a good time."
When asked about his little girl's first words, he replied, "You see, I'm not sure. Because she's been saying 'dad' for awhile, but pointing at random s**t. So I'm not sure."
The father-of-one admitted that his and Lyra's recent health scare wasn't easy to get through, and they both had "bad" symptoms for a couple of days.
"My wife was away, so, I was there with my daughter," he shared. "She had it, too, so it was kind of heavy."
On the bright side, he said "it was really really nice spending all that time" with his only child.
Sheeran and his wife announced their baby's arrival last September, posting a photo of an infant-sized pair of socks.
"Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her," he wrote on social media. "Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x."
He acknowledged that the moniker is "unique," but he explained that there's a special meaning behind it.
"I've basically toured every single continent but I've never been to Antarctica so that was always on our list," he said. "So we went down there in 2019 and it was just incredible. The most amazing place on earth."
