Iskra Lawrence Says It's Important to 'Celebrate Those Unseen Parts of Yourself' in Powerful Message About Self-Worth
Iskra Lawrence is getting vulnerable about self-acceptance.
In a Sunday, November 24, update, the model, 34, wrote a poignant message about the difficulties of sharing glimpses into her life on social media while acknowledging and honoring the imperfect parts of herself.
"What they see vs What I know. I needed this reminder, to see all of the many parts that make me me," Lawrence captioned a snap of herself in a navy blue and black bathing suit alongside a second picture of the same photo with certain words, including "mother, mentor, and risk-taker," all around her.
The blonde beauty noted how all of the internal things she defines herself as holds more power for her than what she looks like. "Not the things strangers see or judge me for on the internet. We are so much more than what a picture can showcase. Because we are so much more than our bodies," she continued. "Our physical homes that hold our souls, energies, experiences and memories those parts are the greatest parts of us. The unseen parts that uplift others, spread kindness, create change, innovate, give you purpose."
The social media influencer pleaded with her followers to never stop drawing attention to the aspects of themselves that aren't so picture-perfect. "Those are your superpowers, the ones that impact the world in a way that only you can," she added.
"This is your reminder to celebrate those unseen part of yourself. Some of mine are personality, some are achievements I’m proud of, some are the careers and roles I’m grateful for. What are yours?" Lawrence asked.
The note resonated deeply with people in the comments section. "Uplifting, true and real🧡 thank you for your genuine post," one person penned below the post.
"Yes!! Love this so much and so important to share 👏👏👏," a second social media user chimed in.
"You're so beautiful and such a gorgeous role model and inspiration xxxxx," another added.
Lawrence previously opened up to Moring Honey about the pressure of looking like you have it all together. "That's the responsibility of being someone in the public eye," she stated. "And you can choose to accept that responsibility and try to be your best self and show others that."
"I also encourage people to see themselves as their own role model. I constantly tell people I'm imperfect. I'm an imperfect human. I am going to mess up if you put me on this perfect pedestal," she emphasized. "I will never be able to attain that. I've let myself be imperfect and that's helped. There was definitely a point where there were so many eyeballs on me. Body positivity was a trigger word for so long, but I stepped away and talked about body acceptance."
