Jamie Lee Curtis Teases Chad Michael Murray's Big Return in the Highly Anticipated 'Freaky Friday' Sequel: 'He Is Gold'
Jamie Lee Curtis seems just as excited as fans are for the Freaky Friday sequel.
The movie star, who plays matriarch Tess Coleman, dished on what viewers can look forward to in the highly anticipated continuation of the 2003 film, including the return of Chad Michael Murray as Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan)'s love interest Jake.
"All of a sudden, the Chad Michael Murray character comes into the story, and I’m telling you, the entire room changed. Every woman in the room was leaning forward," Curtis revealed in a recent interview.
"The laughter, the applause that he got! After the table read, I walked up to the director and producers. I was like, ‘We need to stretch that taffy. He is gold. His character is just so fabulous.’ Jake is back, in a big, big way," the Halloween star admitted.
Curtis also gushed over reuniting with her onscreen daughter and how much she's changed since the two worked together in her teenage years. "Lindsay's a mommy. Little Luai just had his first birthday a week ago. It changes you as a human, being a parent," the 65-year-old said about Lohan, 38, who welcomed her son with her husband, Bader Shammas, in July 2023.
"She’s very conservative, so I was like, ‘Relax. Relax.’ Luai’s just starting to walk. She’s at that point where toddlers hold onto things, then they wobble, then they go down. She’s at work, and she’s watching on her phone," Curtis said of the Mean Girls alum's parenting style.
According to the Hollywood icon, even when Lohan is busy on set, she's busy thinking about her little one. "She’s watching videos on livestream with the baby in between scenes. She’s watching her child start toddling, and it’s just very sweet. She’s great. She’s very happy. We’re having a really, really, really fun time," Curtis added.
As Morning Honey previously reported, the new installment of the early 2000's Disney film has been a long time coming after Curtis made it clear in 2022 that she would "absolutely" be down to return.
"It doesn’t even feel like work," Lohan revealed in a recent interview about joining forces with the True Lies actress once again.
"It's more fun, it’s more emotional," she spilled before telling Curtis, "Seriously the only reason we are back here doing this is because of you."
"For me it feels like no time has passed," the Scream Queens star gushed over the movie making process. "We both get to play moms."
