Jamie-Lynn Sigler is just going with the flow at this stage in her life — and she wouldn't have it any other way.

"Focusing on my two podcasts and being with my family has been my main focus, but I'm also writing a book right now. With acting, I like to be surprised with what's going to come my way. I feel like I'm entering into a new phase in my life, and I'm not rushing the acting part. I know that will come. I am excited for what will be the next chapter, but I'm currently where I'm needed," the actress, 43, who is partnering with Amazon Devices and Alexa Emergency Assist (AEA) to bring awareness around the peace of mind this service can offer to parents, children, caretakers, or those living alone of all ages, exclusively tells Morning Honey.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler said she's 'excited' for future career opportunities.

The star, who has had MS for 22 years, "comes from a musical theater background," so she would be interested in going back to Broadway one day. "I would love to do a musical again," she says, noting that she played Belle in Beauty and the Beast years ago.

At the moment, the Sopranos star, who shares sons Beau, 11, and Jack, 6, with former MLB player Cutter Dykstra, is most interested in helping others, especially as she talks openly about her battle with MS in her podcast "MeSsy," which she co-hosts alongside Christina Applegate, who also has the disease.

"My whole life up until not that long ago, I was always trying to put out this perfect image and just assuming that's the only way you would be accepted and that's the only way that you would be loved," she shares. "That's the only way that people would ever want to be around you was just in your perfection — and that was wrong. Especially while doing this podcast, seeing the community, the love and the connection that you have just by being vulnerable and open — life is messy for all of us, no matter what you're dealing with."

Sigler, who kept quiet about her diagnosis for so long, is now thrilled to be just be talking with others openly and honestly. "That deepening of my friendship with Christina and the community and our listeners, and just the opportunity to really accept yourself through all of that has been really profound," she admits. "We're hoping to just empower other people to do that for themselves. The conversations aren't about us being actresses, it's just about two humans being vulnerable — and being OK with sharing their mess."

The podcast was only released in March, and they've already touched so many people. "They say a lot of times they're listening to their two best friends, which means everything to us. The 'MeSsy' community also talks to each other, too, so now it's this whole group of people who are willing to not hide and share the hard stuff and be there for each other. It's about listening to an intimate conversation between two women who are leaning on each other and learning about each other and figuring things out as we go. The fact that any of the empowerment for other people comes as a result is just a beautiful extra. We needed this, so we can only imagine that other people would need it, too."

The process has been quite cathartic for Sigler, as she gets to be her "authentic self."

"There's a lot of growth that can come from that, and I myself am witnessing that. I feel it really bleeding over into every area of my life, including my acting and just feeling comfortable in my skin and being OK with who I am and what I feel and what I go through. It has allowed me to be more authentic in general, and I think everybody deserves that. I hope that is a gift that other people can take for themselves as well from it."

Sigler is also candid with her two boys, as she wants them to be independent, which is why her partnership with Amazon Devices and Alexa Emergency Assist (AEA) made perfect sense.

"The importance of family safety is always high on the list. As a parent, you start to have your mind go to the worst case scenario all the time, and you want to be prepared and bolstered with all the information and tools that you can have," she explains. "In the past, we've had a lot of conversations with our kids, including what we would do in case of an emergency and here's the family plan. That's all great, but in reality, if God forbid one of those emergency situations came up, I think there's a lot of anxiety and panic, so it's hard to think about going through with the plan in the end. The Alexa Emergency Assist is allowing your family to have the confidence and knowledge and the tools needed to know what to do in an emergency situation. This can also empower kids by having some control. My husband and I often travel for work, and while we have incredibly capable caretakers, AEA allows my kids to feel even more in control of their safety and calms any potential worries. They could say, 'Alexa, call for help' on their own Amazon Echo Kid devices or on our own Echo device in our home."

"One of my kids has severe allergies to certain medications, so time is of the essence in these emergency situations, and we're relying on that information. The fact that Alexa Emergency Assist will put you in touch with an urgent response agent, who has all the information ready to go to give to the first responders, is amazing," she continues. "So, medications, allergies, your address, if you have pets, gate codes, all those things you don't have to worry about because they have. Also, if you aren't home and your smoke alarm or alarm goes off, you can drop into your Echo and look through the camera and choose to call an emergency responder. Just to have that peace of mind and the opportunity to be safer in an emergency situation is priceless. With emergency contacts, we can add up to 25 contacts, whether that be us, family or friends, who can be notified and informed when a call is placed. Alexa Emergency Assist allows me to feel confident that I’ll be alerted in case anything happens."

Jamie-Lynn Sigler uses Alexa Emergency Assist, a personalized safety service available through Amazon Echo devices, so she has peace of mind in any emergency situation.

As a parent, Sigler feels like she wants to do "everything" for her two boys, but she also understands that as they get older, she won't be there for them during every situation. "Giving them that confidence now so they can make a decision bleeds over into all other areas of their life," she says. "When you give kids confidence in one thing, it allows them to feel more confident in another. These are the types of conversations that you have to have. Anytime you give them that autonomy over their own situation and control, it will help them in other aspects."
