Jenna Dewan Admits She 'Really Loves Being a Mom': 'Something I Knew My Whole Life'
Jenna Dewan recently announced she's expecting baby No. 3 — her second with fiancé Steve Kazee — and she's psyched for what the future holds.
“I really love being a mom,” the actress, 43, said in a new interview with Romper. “That’s something I knew my whole life, but I really know it now.”
However, this time around, it's a little bittersweet as this is her last child.
“You don’t race to the end because this is the last time,” she added. “So there’s a bit of joy and a little sadness. I’m really trying to enjoy it all and not try to just get through the days.”
The dancer, who shares daughter Everly, 10, with ex Channing Tatum and son Callum, 3, with Kazee, is looking forward to her son having another sibling around.
“[I told him] when the baby is ready, the baby comes out. And he’s like, ‘I want the baby right now. Can you just pull it out of your mouth?’ Steve and I died laughing. I said, ‘I wish, baby. That would be amazing if we could pull it out my mouth. But no, it definitely goes a different way,'" she recalled.
Dewan also gave insight into how she shares Everly with the She's the Man alum.
“It’s always a journey,” she admitted. “It never ends. You just learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority. I just continually put her first. That’s how I can manage all hard things.”
“In the beginning, that was really tough,” she added. “And it was definitely hard on her in the beginning, too, but she’s gotten into a flow with that a lot more. But she loves Callum. She really adores him.”
For now, Dewan is soaking in this beautiful time. “I’m not sure the body necessarily gets right back into action the way it did years ago. We’ll see,” she said of being pregnant in her 40s versus 30s. “I’ll report back, but I do think there’s a bit of ignorance, this dancer in me that just says ‘OK, well, you just get it done.’ I’ve recovered great every time, but I’m open to whatever happens.”
