Jennie Garth, 52, Is 'Forcing' Herself to Work Out as She Navigates the 'Daily Minefield' of Menopause: 'I'm Doing the Best I Can'
Jennie Garth is getting brutally honest about the aging process.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 52, took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 6, to share a video of herself in the gym working out while admitting how difficult it was to get herself there.
"Happy Tuesday 💛 I’m going to be real honest with you …I’ve been struggling with working out recently," Garth penned in the caption. "My travel and work schedule, my body pain, not to mention menopause, is a daily minefield, both physically & mentally."
"Here's the deal… I stay motivated by FORCING myself to workout. I know I'll always feel better from doing it. But recently it just feels like my body is fighting against me at times. I forget that there's so much happening inside me, causing so many changes, that of course I'm not always going to feel or be able to perform how I'd like to (or expect to)," she continued.
Garth then said she's open to any words of wisdom as she navigates this time period.
"I have to remind myself to give myself some grace! I’m doing the best I can and that makes me feel a little better. Tell me, how do you find working out challenging as we age and as we deal with these human changes? Share with us all any tips & tricks! I need them just as much as we all do," The Last Cowboy alum added.
"Thank you, as always, @jasonalivefitnessfor always pushing me just enough & for your patience and understating of my beautiful, hardworking body 💪🏻❤️🖤JG #IChooseMe #fitat50 #motivation," Garth concluded the deeply honest post.
The touching update deeply resonated with her followers, as one social media user wrote in the comments section, "The struggle is real! I’m 51 and face the same challenges you do, so thank you for your inspiration 💛."
"At 64 I have dialed down intense exercise classes, like spinning, for more walking, swimming, yoga, and Pilates," a second person chimed in.
"Your honesty! 🙏🏻 This is helping women so much, Jennie! It’s not easy, but we DO IT ANYWAY 👏," a third person added.
Garth has never shied away from talking about the positive and negative aspects of getting older. "It’s a milestone. But I have to say, that you do come into a really cool space at 50 — a place of inner confidence and quiet, and it really feels good," she spilled in a 2022 interview. "I didn’t think it would feel this good, but it really does."
For now, the blonde beauty is focusing on being the best mom possible. "I have two full-grown girls out of the house; they live in New York City. There's so much to worry about. 'Will they be happy? Will they be safe? When will I see them again?' It's a constant thing as a mom you worry about as a mom when your kids are out of the nest," she admitted.
