Gold Medalist Jordan Chiles Reveals She Wants to Get Into Real Estate After Gymnastics Career
Jordan Chiles is ready for her next act.
During the Teen Vogue Summit 2024 on Saturday, November 23, the Olympic gold medalist, 23, admitted she's already started thinking about life after her athletic career is over.
"The future is such a huge word, but there are so many things that you can do within that future," Chiles explained. "Well, whenever that happens, I'm going to go into real estate."
"I love building. I love being creative. I love seeing things just be designed in different ways. That's one thing," she continued before noting that her name is "already a brand," she will continue to "brand myself out."
Despite having her eye on one career in particular, Chiles has a lot of things left to achieve. "Do I want to become an actress? 100 percent. Do I want to sing? Sure. I can say all those things, but in reality, I think it's just continuing to make a brand for myself and to make sure everybody understands that Jordan Chiles is Jordan Chiles, not just as an athlete, but also as a human," she added.
With many accomplishments under her belt, the Oregon native sees her career in a different way now. "When I was younger, I thought success was just going to school every day," Chiles said. "I was like, 'Oh yes, I'm successful. I got an A on my test. Yes.' No, now that I'm older, there's a lot of things that go into success. You can be successful not only within your brand but also with things that you do around yourself, with people, with jobs, with a career, with hobbies."
"And also, I still to this day don't consider myself famous. I don't consider myself a celebrity. I don't consider myself anything because I feel like I still have more to do within my community, more to do within myself. I need to mature," she explained. "There's a lot of things. So yes, I look at success differently."
The update comes after Chiles suffered a devasting blow when her individual bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics was taken away. “Things can be really, really hard in your life and things may be stripped from you, and you’re going to have to deal with that and understand that you need to fight for what you’re fighting for,” she noted in a recent interview with CNN.
Luckily, the whole ordeal has only made Chiles stronger. “And that’s something that I’ve learned as well in the past three or four months just coming off of Paris,” she said
