Kelly Clarkson Admits She Turned to Weight-Loss Drugs After Her 'Blood Work Got So Bad'
After slimming down in the past year, Kelly Clarkson finally confessed she is using weight-loss drugs.
"Every time I run into you, you look younger! You're like Benjamin Button," the TV host, 42, told Whoopi Goldberg during the Monday, May 13 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. "It's like crazy every time you walk in!"
"First of all, it's all the weight I've lost," said Goldberg. "I've lost almost two people. I am doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and it's been really good for me."
The singer then shared why she needed to turn to medication. "Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my blood work got so bad. My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it.' I already have thyroid problems. Everybody thinks it's Ozempic, but it's not. It's something else," she shared.
"[It's] something that aids in helping break down the sugar," Clarkson said, adding that her body "doesn't do it right."
The "Breakaway" songstress has been candid about her weight over the years.
While talking to People in January, she shared her routine.
“I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!” she said.
The mom-of-two also added that moving to New York City helped her routine.
“Walking in the city is quite the workout,” she noted. “And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”
Strolling around the city also helps her bond with her two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
"We go walk the dogs a few times at the park. We'll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down. We'll go make slime and we go to the museum,” she said.
