Kylie Jenner Gives Herself 'Empathy' and 'Grace' After Becoming a Mom at Age 20: 'It Was a Huge Life Change'
Kylie Jenner knows she took on the biggest responsibility in the world at a young age.
The Kardashians star, 27, opened up about welcoming her daughter, Stormi Webster, at age 20 and her son, Aire Webster, at 24, with her former partner Travis Scott, and how growing up in the spotlight fast-tracked her road to adulthood.
"I was 19 when I got pregnant, 20 when I had her. It was wild," Jenner explained in a recent interview. "Looking back at it, I give myself more empathy and grace."
Despite the abnormal circumstances, her maturity from living such a public life made her ready to take on motherhood. "But when I was a teenager, even my family were like: 'You aren't that young.' I think maybe I carried myself [a certain way] or I'd already been working for ten years. It didn't hit me [straight away]. But it was a huge life change," she added.
The Kylie Cosmetics founder wouldn't have it any other way, especially since raising her kiddos taught her about what is really important in life. “I have this daughter, and I just want the best for her and I want her to just love herself unconditionally," Jenner said.
"No matter what I’m going through or what I look like or what the internet writes about me that day,” she continued. "I come home, and my kids just love me unconditionally. They’re just obsessed with me and that’s taught me to walk through life a little easier. I’m like, ‘OK, well I have these little humans at home that need me and love me and think I’m the most perfect person in the world, so I don’t really need validation from outside sources."
However, the brunette beauty admitted the "tricky part" has been "figuring out the balance of growing up with your kid."
"I have to remind my friends who don’t have kids all the time, who are like: ‘Let’s do this in the morning!’, that I have children," Jenner noted of how her life has been vastly different from her peers. "Letting go of your selfishness and your freedom at a very young age... I don’t think we realize how selfish we are as human beings until we have children. But, you know, that is also the biggest pro."
"I’m 26 and I have a first-grader. I’m going to be 40 with a 20-year-old," the reality star exclaimed. "And we’re going to be best friends."
