Lady Gaga Admits She Cries Over How Proud She Is of Chappell Roan, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish: 'My Heart Is in It With Them'
Lady Gaga is one proud pop mama!
After the music icon, 38, burst onto the scene in 2008 with her powerful vocals and avant-garde performance style, she's over the moon that the current crop of hit-makers like Chappell Roan, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish have followed in her footsteps.
"I mean, I really love them. I go on the internet and, like, cry. And I love Taylor Swift too," she gushed in a recent interview, while also naming Kesha.
"I watch it all, and I’m like: 'Yup. Go! Just go,'" Gaga admitted before being overcome with emotion over the talent of her fellow artists in the industry. "I’m not only cheering them on, I want them to know that my heart is in it with them. And I want them all to feel really happy."
The "Just Dance" songstress is throwing her hat back in the pop ring once again with her upcoming album, which is set to drop next year. Her latest project will take Gaga back to the genre of music that made her a star, thanks to her fiancé, Michael Polansky.
"He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music,'" the A Star Is Born actress recalled her husband-to-be telling her.
Polansky has seen how making the specific type of music makes her shine. "Like anyone would do for the person they love, I encouraged her to lean in to the joy of it," he explained. "On the Chromatica tour, I saw a fire in her; I wanted to help her keep that alive all the time and just start making music that made her happy."
Teasing her latest body of work, she revealed it's about the deeply personal journey she's been on since her last release in 2020. “There’s a lot of pain associated with this adventure. And when I start to explore that pain it can bring out another side to my artistry. When I’m here at this studio [Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La], I’m relaxed and I am able to face my demons and what’s remarkable is… that’s the music. I’m able to hear it back.”
"I’ve changed. A lot. I feel like this new album, in a lot of ways, is about that time but from a place of happiness instead of misery," she noted. "And now, Michael and I are really excited to organize our lives — and our marriage — around our creative output as a couple.”
