La La Anthony Admits 'It's Surreal' Seeing Kiyan Anthony Follow in Father Carmelo Anthony's Footsteps
La La Anthony has a lot on her plate, as she's juggling a busy acting career, preparing for the holidays, raising her son, Kiyan, and celebrating the basketball season, which is why she's thrilled to relax with her son amidst the madness.
"During the holidays, primarily he's on the road for his basketball games," Anthony exclusively tells Morning Honey while chatting about her partnership with Delsym.
The producer is supportive of the teen, and she's looking forward to enjoying the short break in the sports calendar for the upcoming holiday season.
"I'll be there with him, but it's crazy because pretty much the whole month of December, he and his team are on the road," she adds. "At least we get Christmas Eve and Christmas all together, and I'm just looking forward to it."
Kiyan's father, Carmelo Anthony, played in the NBA for 19 seasons, and his parents are often seen cheering him on, as he follows in the basketball legend's footsteps.
"It's surreal sometimes," La La confesses. "Last night when I heard the announcers saying his name, I remembered that same feeling from when his dad was playing. It's crazy because that's my child!"
"That's a whole different feeling, and he had an incredible game last night, so we were happy," she continues.
Aside from rooting for Kiyan, the Inala founder proudly represents her Caribbean heritage, and she's helped pave the way for her community.
"It's been amazing and exciting that there are more opportunities," the Power star exclaims. "It's great to see so many Afro-Latinas step up in the producing space, the acting space and create more opportunities for all of us."
"There's so many stories that need to be told and so many great projects out there," she continues. "I'm just excited to see that space continue to expand and take over and provide more opportunity for all of us."
La La is a pioneer for Hispanic women in mainstream American media, and she is honest about how she manages a variety of projects, businesses and more.
"I figured it out ... I don't sleep," the author jokingly admits. "I balance everything, and the balancing act is always a struggle, and anyone who tells you differently is not being honest."
"I just have to prioritize whatever is happening in my life at that time," La La says. "If I'm shooting BMF, that's where my mind is. If I'm working on producing, that's when I'm prioritizing that. When you try to do it all at once, all at the same time, it does get overwhelming, including my number one job, which is being a mom."
Still, the host has mastered being in Hollywood.
"I function well in chaos," she continues. "I think I work better when there's like so much going on."
Aside from her career, La La is using Delsym cough syrup and her homemade stew to protect her loved ones from getting sick as the weather gets colder.
"I have my family, and I was just so excited to partner with them because, during the holiday season, you don't want a cold or a cough to stop you from being in the holiday spirit," she raves. "I just started decorating my house, and I'm getting so excited about it!"
"I use Delsym with my favorite chicken soup recipe," La La shares. "Most people know I am not a cook, but I can make this chicken soup recipe really good. So, with the two of those, we just make sure that everyone in my house is feeling good and super excited to enjoy the holiday."
