Exclusive: Lana Condor Reveals Why Environmental Advocacy Is Her Biggest Passion Outside of Acting: 'It's Something That I Have Always Done'
Lana Condor is a multifaceted superstar.
The To All the Boys I've Loved Before actress may be known for her impressive acting skills, but she's also traveled all around the world advocating for environmental protection.
Condor chats exclusively with Morning Honey about the work she's done to make a better planet for future generations, evoking change through storytelling and partnering with 3M to support its docuseries Green Works at the 2024 Fast Company Innovation Festival.
"Protecting the planet, conservation efforts, creating a more sustainable community and world has always been something I've really believed in. I've done a lot of work in that space," she explains.
When the brunette beauty hasn't been on set working on her latest project, she's been flying to different parts of the world to learn more about what causes harm to our planet. "A couple of years ago, I went to Vietnam and traversed in the jungles to try and find illegal traps that people set up to try and capture endangered animals. Then, of course, they sell them illegally to bad places," Condor reveals. "I've been to Africa, where I've learned a lot about migration patterns and how humanity putting up various walls and buildings disrupts the natural flow of the natural ecosystem."
The 27-year-old knows that people may be surprised by her vast experience in the field, given her Hollywood status. "My passion about conservation and trying to protect the planet...it's something that I have always done," she adds. "But most people probably know me from Netflix."
Now, Condor has merged her two loves by bringing stories of change to the forefront. "It focused a lot on education and educating young people, especially because knowledge is obviously power," the star notes of the project. "Then you can go forth once you're armed with all this information, and you can really make a difference."
Being able to help the docuseries reach its audience has been nothing short of a gift for Condor. "I'm so excited to be given the opportunity of this platform with 3M to share why I love this," she says. "It kind of felt like it was a match made in heaven."
"It's amazing to find a company as huge as 3M that is willing to not only invest the time in education and learning all about the various issues that we have around the world but also teaching everyone about green jobs. To have that big of a company put that much time and effort into it is really thrilling and something I'm proud to stand by," Condor gushes.
