Lana Del Rey Gushes Over How 'Driven' Taylor Swift Is: 'She Wants It More Than Anyone'
Lana Del Rey is as blown away by Taylor Swift as the rest of the world is.
The "Born to Die" singer, 38, shared rave reviews about the pop icon, 34, and her motivation to maintain her success in the music industry.
"She wants it," Del Rey said, praising Swift in a recent interview. "She's told me so many times that she wants it more than anyone. And how amazing — she's getting exactly what she wants. She's driven, and I think it's really paid off."
The "Summertime Sadness" crooner collaborated with the chart-topper on the track "Snow On The Beach" for Swift's Midnights album. The "Karma" singer even went on to praise Del Rey during her 2024 Grammy acceptance speech for Album of the Year.
"I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration that they have if not for the work that she’s done. I think she’s a legacy artist — a legend in her prime right now," Swift gushed about the "Video Games" artist.
The "Lover" vocalist had a banner year after kicking off her blockbuster Eras tour in the spring of 2023, followed by the release of her album The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024 — in addition to her love story with Travis Kelce, which continues to make headlines.
"I’ve been raised up and down the flagpole of public opinion so many times in the last 20 years,” Swift revealed to Time magazine after she was named their Person of the Year in 2023. "I’ve been given a tiara, then had it taken away.”
"It feels like the breakthrough moment of my career, happening at 33," she admitted. “And for the first time in my life, I was mentally tough enough to take what comes with that. This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been.”
The music legend's groundbreaking tour required Swift to put everything she had into it. "I knew this tour was harder than anything I'd ever done before by a long shot. Every day, I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud," she explained.
"Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs. Then I had three months of dance training because I wanted to get it in my bones," she continued. "I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought. I wanted to play a show that was longer than they ever thought it would be, because that makes me feel good leaving the stadium."
