Lana Del Rey Says Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley's Romance Inspired Her to Marry Jeremy Dufrene: 'I'm Grateful'
Lana Del Rey has Jack Antonoff to thank for her happily ever after.
The "Video Games" singer, 39, made a glowing speech to honor the songwriter, 40, with the Producer of the Decade award at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch on Saturday, December 7, and shared how Antonoff's love for his wife, Margaret Qualley, made her want to get married to Jeremy Dufrene.
"Most of all, I'm grateful for [Antonoff], for his example that he gave me in his marriage to Margaret," Del Rey, who tied the knot with the alligator tour guide, 49, in September, said to the crowd at the gala.
"I saw the way he looked at her when he met her, and he's a big reason why I waited so long to get married and why I met my amazing husband,” the "Tough" artist added of the pair, who tied the knot in August 2023.
Del Rey emphasized how there seems to be "a singer's curse around meeting an honest partner" that The Bleachers frontman helped her overcome. "It's super nerve-racking to have to hold onto an innocent perception of how things could go when you're in an industry where maybe your values or your morals don't quite match up with what's going on — especially when people think that you probably don't have any morals or values. So, it can get all twisted up," she explained.
"So Jack, thank you so much for maybe helping other people look at me in a way that is a little bit closer to how I perceived myself,” the "Say Yes To Heaven" musician said. "Other than my managers, you really have turned my life around … you've just really made it feel like Hollywood can be glamorous still and you can still have a very rich home life, even when you get rich."
Del Rey and Dufrene, who originally met in 2019 and reconnected over the summer, have kept their relationship private since getting together. Following their nuptials in Lafourche Parish, La., the "Diet Mountain Dew" songstress shared a rare remark about her spouse in the comments section of a fan's social media post.
"Jeremy is the one and only. And amazing. And we’re very happy," she wrote about their new life together.
The "West Coast" artist previously opened up about what she was looking for in a husband. "Most of the people I met wanted Hollywood to be the third part in our relationship," she explained in an interview earlier this year. "When I get married, it’ll be to someone who, like me, believes that love is enough. I’ll be enough for him, and he’ll be enough for me. Someone to have children with if that happens, or just friends."
