'Long Island Medium' Star Theresa Caputo Shares How She Finds Joy Every Day
Theresa Caputo, best known as TV’s Long Island Medium, shared how she has learned to find joy every day!
"I wake up and say, ‘This is going to be a great day,’” she revealed. Caputo, whose show Raising Spirits aired on Lifetime TV. "I try to envision my day like rainbows and Skittles. I remind myself of all the blessings I have."
"My faith has always had a strong influence on my peace and happiness, and it has actually gotten a lot stronger doing the work I do. Knowing that there truly is an afterlife, that I will be greeted by my loved ones that have gone on before me, gives me amazing peace," she explained.
"Laughter is medicine for the soul. But I think sometimes it is the hardest thing we have to do. Whether we are struggling on a daily basis with things in our lives or if our difficulties are connected to a loss of a loved one, laughter is so healing … always," the television personality added.
The TV star also isn't afraid to indulge once in a while.
"I’m a foodie! I love to eat, so I’m always looking for a snack," Caputo revealed. "I try to be healthy, but I also love food, so if I feel like having a piece of chocolate or having a cookie, I’m going to have it. When you start denying yourself, you’re only going to want it more. So whatever brings you joy, go for it and then just move on."
Caputo worries from time to time, but understands it will eventually go away. "We all have some anxiety. Sometimes I wake up and don’t want to get out of bed. Those are the days I take ten minutes to quiet my mind, maybe through meditation or just sitting quietly with a cup of coffee. It resets me," she noted of having quiet time to herself.
Though Caputo has been on TV for a long time, she knows she's not your typical star.
"I’ve always had a distinctive look," the blonde beauty said of her confidence. "Some would call my look dated, but that’s just who I am. With me, what you see is what you get. People are surprised when I am exactly the person you see on TV. Always be true to who you are.”
Ultimately, the blonde beauty makes sure to see the glass half full instead of empty. "When something bad happens, like when I tore my ACL and had to have surgery, I don’t ask, ‘Why me?’ People were saying, ‘Aren’t you asking, why did this happen?’ No. I was going through my divorce, and it was a very difficult time. I realized this was a sign from above, telling me to slow down and take stock," Caputo spilled.
