Mariah Carey Reveals the Best Gift She's Ever Received as She Bakes Her Christmas Cookies: Watch
Mariah Carey is in the midst of her favorite season!
In a new video, the "Queen of Christmas" got in the kitchen to make her signature holiday cookies while chatting about her favorite traditions and memories.
As Carey stood behind a counter with a mixing bowl and all of her ingredients ready to go, she revealed her sweet treat has a unique twist — lemon zest! The music icon then instructed her audience to blend the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat the liquid with a hand mixer until it is light and fluffy. Carey noted to add the eggs, milk, vanilla extract and lemon zest and mix together "until it's nice and smooth."
While the mother-of-two continued through the steps, someone behind the camera asked her about the best present she had ever been given. "Diamonds — I've got to say. I didn’t want to say that aloud. But I had to!" she gushed.
The anonymous voice also questioned Carey about when she felt the appropriate time of the year was to start listening to Christmas music. "I would always wait until Thanksgiving," she advised. "It depends! Some people want to start a little bit earlier."
After refrigerating the mixture for one hour, the Glitter actress flattened the dough with a rolling pin and began using festive cookie cutters before putting the shapes in the oven until they were perfectly golden brown. Once they cooled, Carey instructed viewers to decorate the cookies "to your heart's desire" with icing and sprinkles.
Although Carey has been labeled a "diva" in the past, she does a lot in the kitchen during the Christmas season. "I like to cook during the holidays. I make linguini with white clam sauce — my father’s favorite recipe. I make it every year and sometimes my daughter Monroe [Cannon] helps me make it," she explained in a recent interview. "It’s something I love doing!"
The "Obsessed" singer has released Christmas albums, shows and books over the years. In 2022, she even launched a line of holiday merchandise at Target for her fans to enjoy.
"I’m not sure if you’re aware but Christmas is kind of my thing!" she said in an interview. "Putting together this line was so much fun because I added my own festive spin to traditional holiday merchandise. I worked on it all year long and now it’s finally time to share my holiday collection with you all. Merry Christmas!"
