Mariah Carey Says She Supports Twins Monroe and Moroccan Going Into Show Business: 'They Seem to Really Love Performing'
Mariah Carey isn't opposed to being a stage mom.
The music icon, 55, opened up about the possibility of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, 13 — whom she shares with ex Nick Cannon — going into show business when they're older.
"I think they're both very talented and smart, and if they want to pursue having a life as an entertainer, then I think they should," she admitted in a recent interview. "It's a hard kind of life, but they seem to really love performing, so I'm happy for them."
Carey has been joined onstage by her children numerous times in the past. In November 2023, the chart-topper sang a sweet duet with her daughter. "I think I’m going to do a little thing here where I'm going to sing with someone who I absolutely love with all my heart,” the proud mom gushed to the audience at the Hollywood Bowl.
As Morning Honey previously reported, Carey always ensures her kiddos know the world is their oyster. "When you grow up with a messed-up life and then you’re able to have this transformation where you can make your life what you want it to be? That is joy for me. That’s why I want my kids to have everything they can have. I want them to be able to understand that they can be anything they want to be," she explained in a 2022 interview.
“It was an extremely dysfunctional childhood, to the point where it’s shocking that I made it out of that at all,” the "Obsessed" singer said. “There were no role models for people who were clearly mixed or, you know, light-skinned or whatever we were categorizing it as then, so I didn’t know who to look up to when I was growing up. It was difficult.”
After enduring a difficult adolescence, Carey found solace in music. "Here is the thing: I am always listening to music. When I was pregnant with them, I would put this iPod-like belt thing on so that they could listen to inspirational music and just, like, have different types of relaxing moments or whatever," she revealed.
"But once they started listening to their own music, you know, once I allowed the iPad moments to happen, then it became about whatever was going on in a game and certain songs that are more prominently featured in different video games. They’re not on TikTok yet, but I know they are on it behind my back secretly anyway. So songs are just 15-second snippets for them," Carey explained.
