Country Star Megan Moroney Admits There's an 'Overwhelming' Side to Fame Even Though It's 'Exactly' What She Wanted
Megan Moroney's meteoric rise has shown her the positive and negative sides of fame.
The country music star, 26, burst onto the scene in 2022 with her viral smash "Tennessee Orange" and has been on a steady rise to the top ever since. Despite having her dreams come true, Moroney admitted dealing with her newfound notoriety can be difficult.
"A year and a half ago, I was still in a church van with a U-Haul in the back of it, and now I have two buses and two trailers that we’ll be growing next year," she explained in a recent interview of how much her life has changed.
"There's definitely an overwhelming side of it," the blonde beauty revealed. "Anytime I feel overwhelmed, I have to just remind myself that this is exactly what I wanted and that I've worked really hard to get here."
The effort put into her career has immensely paid off, as Moroney was nominated for a slew of Academy of Country Music Awards — and she even won Best New Female Artist. "I grew up watching the ACM Awards,” she explained. "My dream would’ve been to just attend one of those as a seat filler or something, so to be the most-nominated female, that was mind-blowing to me."
The success hasn't been the most rewarding aspect for Moroney, but rather being able to speak her truth. "I write songs for myself to be therapeutic, but I also love that my fans can relate it to their own lives,” the singer noted.
Moroney has been endlessly grateful for the opportunities that have come her way, including headlining her upcoming "Am I Okay?" tour in 2025.
"I’m so excited to announce the AM I OKAY? TOUR!!! 💙," she penned in her Instagram announcement. "I get to play some of my bucket list venues & it’s going to be a very ✨blue✨ very magical year on the road. I’m already counting down the days until I get to see your faces & all of your 'homemade tshirts & homemade signs' :,) i know i’ve said it a lot but thank you for making all of my dreams come true - just over the mooooooon that I get to do this 🥹🫶🏼🚀👑👙🎣."
Before hitting the road, Moroney has been making sure she's taking time to relax, rest and enjoy her downtime. “The first thing I want to do with my friends after touring is just have a home-cooked meal, hang out, and do literally nothing," she revealed.
