Miley Cyrus is no stranger to growing up in the spotlight. Prior to hosting NBC's A Toast to 2022!, the star got candid about how far she's come in the past few years.
"I always say that my truth, and the opposite of what that is is also true. Somehow I'm completely different, and then somehow I'm exactly the same," she shared before joking about her memorable 2013 MTV VMAs performance alongside Robin Thicke. "Now, in my 30s — I mean, my 20s were so much fun. If you don't believe me, I think you can google it…"
Cyrus previously made headlines for her "Wrecking Ball" video in which she appeared naked, in addition to twerking with Thicke, but it sounds like she's matured since then.
In November, the "Midnight Sky" songstress entered a new decade, but it seems like she's not nervous for what's to come. "30. Thankful for all the love and kind birthday wishes," she captioned some photos of herself from her party.
The Hannah Montana alum is gearing up to release new music — she announced her new single "Flowers" will be dropping on January 13 — but in the meantime, she's thinking about how she'll begin 2023 on a high note.
"I guess my resolution would really be — my instinct is very loud, but I'm not a great listener sometimes," Cyrus told Hoda Kotb in the interview. "Dolly [Parton] was telling me, her husband [Carl Thomas Dean] says, 'You're not hard of hearing. You're hard of listening.' And I guess that would kind of be my resolution, to not just listen to myself, but listen to others."
Having the country star by Cyrus' side was the cherry on top of her night.
“I tell ya, this is the thrill of my life, to get to host the show with Miley,” Parton said during the live show. “We know how much I’ve loved her since she was a lil’ ol’ bitty thing. Now she’s a big ol’ thing, and I still love her. I will always love you.”
“That’s how I feel about you, Aunt Dolly,” Cyrus replied.
