Olivia Rodrigo's Disney+ Movie 'Driving Home 2 U' Explores The Making Of Her Album & Features New Takes On Her Songs
Singer of the moment Olivia Rodrigo is giving fans a new perspective into the making of her hit debut album, Sour, via OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u, which will premiere on March 25 via Disney+.
The special follows the "Traitor" crooner as she embarks on a road trip from Salt Lake City, Utah (where she began writing her album) to Los Angeles. Along the way, the Grammy nominee shares memories from her writing sessions and touches on the tough times she was going through in her personal life.
"I think I just wanted to tell people what was going on in the back of my head in a way that was proud and no ashamed," she says in a voiceover in the newly released 30-second teaser. "Coming from this place of hurt and managing to turn into something you're proud of ... there's nothing better than that."
"driving home 2 u is such a unique and fresh approach to a music film, and that's just what we've come to expect from Olivia. It's an authentic look into her creative process, her incredible drive and who she is as an artist and person," explained John Janick, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M and Interscope Films. "We're so proud to have co-produced this film with Supper Club and are thrilled that it has found a home on Disney +."
The "traitor" songstress will also perform new arrangements of her songs alongside stars like Jacob Collier, debut never-before-seen home videos and explore places like Red Rock Canyon State Park.
"This is a unique film experience where for the first-time fans will understand how her album came to be and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia," said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. "This is not a concert film per say, but really, an opportunity to experience first-hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of the day – and a chance to see her perform the songs from SOUR like never before."
