Olivia Rodrigo Reveals the 'Specific' Question She Asks That Makes or Breaks a First Date: 'The Biggest Red Flag'
Anyone romantically involved with Olivia Rodrigo will have to pass this test.
The "good 4 u" singer, 21, revealed in a Friday, November 1, interview with Netflix the one major question she asks every guy when they start going out.
"The biggest red flag, okay, this is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates," she explained. "I always ask them if they would want to go to space. And if they say yes, I don’t date them. I just think if you want to go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself."
Elsewhere in the chat, Rodrigo, who is currently dating actor Louis Partridge, gushed over her love of S-- and the City and made it clear who she thought Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw should have ended up with. "Mr. Big sucks," the chart-topper said of her disdain for Chris Noth's character. “But we’ve all dated guys like that. You can’t let them go. But yeah, Aidan [John Corbett] for the win.”
The Grammy winner went public with the Enola Holmes actor, 21, at the Venice Film Festival this summer after first sparking romance rumors in December 2023.
During one of her stops on the Guts World Tour, Rodrigo, who has been linked to Joshua Bassett, Adam Faze and Zack Bia in the past, opened up about how she's navigated the dating world. “I am a wizard at the art of Instagram DM," she said. "I met so many people that I’ve dated on Instagram DM. Some of them [were] a little questionable, so maybe that’s not a good example. I don’t even know what the moral of this story is."
The brunette beauty has always fearlessly channeled all of her romantic trials and tribulations into her music. "I write my songs and people can say whatever they want to say about it," Rodrigo explained in a 2021 interview. "[They can] think whatever they want to think about my life and that's just part of it. It doesn't really bother me. I also try to stay off of social media and not look at that stuff."
"As a young woman ... you're not encouraged to talk about how insecure, and jealous, and angry you feel," she emphasized. "Music is an awesome medium for people to get to express those feelings without the fear of judgment, or being viewed as bitchy, or whatever s----- thing people want to say."
Despite any backlash from the public, Rodrigo has been determined to continue being herself. "I'm just making music that I love and that I feel passionate about. It's who I am. I have a dirty mouth," she said. "It was what felt natural and good to me, and people resonated with that. If I am ushering in a new generation of pop stars that aren't afraid to speak their mind, that's so cool. I'm just doing my thing, though."
