Get ready, CW fans — One Tree Hill is making a comeback!
According to a report, Netflix is currently developing a reboot of the teen drama with its original stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Daneel Ackles is set to executive produce.
Per the insider, the John Tucker Must Die actress, 42, and The List alum, also 42, will reportedly reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively. No other original cast members have been confirmed.
Bush and Burton seemed to tease the revamp in dual Friday, August 30, Instagram posts. "What if you really can go back home?” the duo penned in a joint message shared in separate updates. “If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents? Own our history? Reclaim our turf? Honor our fans? Sign us up.”
"There’s only one Tree Hill, after all. And you — the #OTHfam — have shown us that it’s not just an idea. It really is the place where 'everything’s better and everything’s safe,'" they added.
The close-knit cast mates collaborated on a One Tree Hill rewatch podcast, during the pandemic. "Quarantine hit and I was doom scrolling like everyone else. And the number of people who were posting about how in this really scary time at the start of the pandemic, they were starting One Tree Hill over again, really kind of hit me," Bush said at the time. "I was like, this show has something magic about it. It feels really evergreen to so many people."
As Morning Honey previously reported, the Good Sam actress has hinted a doing a revival of the beloved series for a new generation. "I think we have such nostalgia and love and loyalty for our characters and to be frank, if there was a way for us to do something that wouldn’t further empower the people that were so inappropriate to us then, I’d be open to that," she said in a 2021 interview.
"It’s interesting. We love nothing more than working together," she added. "It’s so much fun for us to have an excuse to hang out for three hours a week and also to reclaim our show."
Despite ending the show in 2012, the majority of the stars have stayed close over the years. "I think at the end of the day, we like to be together no matter what," the brunette beauty said. "That’s why we’re having wine on FaceTime multiple nights a week!"
Variety first reported the news of the One Tree Hill reboot.
