Pamela Anderson Feels More Herself Than Ever After Deciding to Go Makeup-Free: 'We Are Good Enough Just the Way We Are'
Pamela Anderson has fully embraced a more natural look.
The "it girl" of the 1990s, 57, recently made the bold decision to stop wearing makeup after years of having her bombshell status define her public image.
"I didn’t realize it was going to start all of this, all these people really relating to me," Anderson said in a recent interview. “It’s a great message — we are good enough just the way we are. I have to remind myself of that every day.”
After decades of hiding behind huge lashes and overly lined lips, the Baywatch actress feels like the world can see who she truly is. "I created this character to combat or to cover up a lot of my disappointment in things that have happened along the way," she admitted. "Now I’m playing myself. Now I feel more myself than ever."
Anderson first debuted her new aesthetic at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. "There’s these beautiful clothes. I’m wearing Vivienne Westwood. I have this great hat and beautiful coat. Nobody’s going to notice if I don’t wear any makeup," she recalled of the moment.
The blonde beauty noted how the change has made life easier for her sons, Brandon, 27, and Dylan, 26, whom she shares with her ex-husband Tommy Lee, 62. "[They] probably don't feel they have to defend their mom anymore," she noted. "My public perception has changed and you don't realize how much that affects your children."
“I think they feel a lot more comfortable now too, looking at me at this point in my life,” Anderson explained. “It has been a journey for all of us, but we’re all in a better place now.”
As Morning Honey previously reported, the mother-of-two explained that ditching makeup was an act of rebellion. "I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing," Anderson said in a 2023 interview. “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really ... what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”
Despite the adjustment, Anderson has fully welcomed the aging process. "I can't wait to see myself old," she said during an appearance on the "Armchair Expert" podcast. "I always said I'd recognize myself when I was old in the mirror. I want to let my hair go kind of natural gray, put my little straw hat on, don't wear makeup. I mean, that's my comfortable kind of state."
The Sunday Times conducted the interview with Anderson.
