Exclusive: Chief Operations Officer of Silver Mirror Facial Bar Rachael Gallo Wants to 'Empower and Uplift Others by Creating a Space Where They Feel Comfortable'

Growing up in the rural countryside of England, Rachael Gallo saw health spa hotels "as a luxury reserved for special weekend getaways."
But after her family moved to America, her perspective "changed dramatically."
"We had a neighbor who was the Spa Director at the Grand Floridian Spa in Disney World. Through her, I discovered that in the U.S., the spa industry is viewed not merely as a luxury but as an integral part of celebrations, vacations and overall wellness," Gallo exclusively tells Morning Honey. "The idea that spa services could contribute to relaxation, healing, stress relief and even boost confidence captivated me. Witnessing firsthand how these services could improve someone's well-being sparked my fascination and inspired me to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry. The ability to positively impact others' lives through relaxation and therapeutic services was a driving force in my decision to enter this field."
Gallo then dove right in, as she started her career as an intern at the Grand Floridian Spa at Disney, which was an "incredible opportunity that allowed me to explore various positions and departments within a spa organization."
"This early experience provided invaluable insight into the dedication and effort required to eventually manage a spa," she shares. "Beginning as a spa attendant and Front Desk associate, and then advancing my education to become a Licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist, gave me a well-rounded perspective on the industry. Each role helped me develop a deep understanding of the operational and service aspects of the business, enabling me to relate to, train and inspire my teams effectively as I advanced to management positions."
"Working for Exhale Spa was another pivotal experience for which I am forever grateful. The extensive training and opportunities for professional growth there further honed my skills and reinforced my passion for the wellness industry. Overall, these opportunities have been immensely rewarding. They have shaped my career and allowed me to contribute positively to others' well-being. The journey has been both challenging and fulfilling, and I am deeply appreciative of the experiences and training that have prepared me to excel in the wellness space," she continues.
Through those prior roles, Gallo "learned essential skills for managing and growing within the company. These experiences taught me to translate my in-room expertise into operational strategies that focus on fostering talented, passionate estheticians. I learned the importance of viewing each interaction through the lens of both the associate and the guest, ensuring that operations are streamlined and that the guest experience is seamless and exceptional," she explains.
From there, she became the Chief Operations Officer of Silver Mirror Facial Bar, with locations in D.C., New York City and Miami. "I apply these valuable lessons daily. My goal is to create an environment where associates feel supported and inspired, which in turn, leads to outstanding service for our guests. This holistic approach to management, rooted in empathy and professional expertise, has been key to my success in leading operations," she says.

One of Gallo's favorite parts of the job is "overseeing Esthetician hiring and training across all our locations, maintaining connection and consistency amidst our rapid growth from three to nine locations presented a significant challenge."
"Balancing my presence across multiple regions to conduct in-person interviews and participate in monthly educational sessions demanded careful time management and dedication. However, amidst these challenges lies the best part of my job. I find immense fulfillment in inspiring our teams through my years of experience in guest interactions and offering educational classes on the latest innovations in our facials. Witnessing the passion and dedication our teams bring to their work each day is truly inspiring and fuels my own motivation," she says.
In the next five to 10 years, Gallo is hopeful Silver Mirror Facial Bar will keep expanding.
"Our goal is to maintain personalized care and attention, ensuring every guest feels valued and supported on their skincare journey. By prioritizing quality and customer satisfaction, we aim to grow while preserving the unique experience that sets us apart in the industry," she says.
