Southwest Airlines Unveils A Disney World-Themed Plane In Honor Of The Park's 50th Anniversary — See The Magical Decorations!
You can now celebrate Disney World's 50th anniversary while en route to the Florida park!
As part of the milestone, Southwest Airlines teamed up with the company to turn one of their Boeing 737-700's into an artistic tribute to Disney and their famous magic.
The plane's exterior maintains the airline's signature royal blue color, but it now also features gold images of Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, pixie dust and a white rendering of the Magic Kingdom's iconic Cinderella castle.
Inside the airplane — which can be tracked via its tail number N954WN — the overhead bins are decorated with the same pictures, and on the window shades, you'll find your favorite characters (such as Toy Story's Woody) in the same metallic "EARidescent" paint.
The slogan "50 years. One heart" can also be seen on the plane, both inside and out.
"As Walt Disney World Resort kicks off The World's Most Magical Celebration commemorating our 50th anniversary, we are thrilled to bring even more magic to guests' vacations and to the sky with the help of our friends at Southwest," announced Claire Bilby, Senior Vice President of Disney Destinations. "Both Walt Disney World Resort and Southwest Airlines share an incredible 50-year legacy of creating exceptional vacation experiences and treasured memories for guests."
The airplane will be active from now through March 2022, and in honor of its special unveiling, the partnership kicked off the Southwest 50 Days of Giveaways sweepstakes, which will award one lucky winner every day from now until November 16 with a vacation package for four that includes lodging, theme park tickets, a $200 Disney gift card and round trip airfare.
"For 50 years, Southwest has connected our Customers to the people and places that matter most. Whether a Customer is flying to visit relatives in another state, close a business deal with a client, or experience a family vacation, we are honored to be a part of those moments," said Brandy King, Director of Public Relations at Southwest Airlines. "Celebrating 50 years of making memories during our shared milestone anniversary is at the heart of this magical collaboration with the Walt Disney World Resort."
