Teddi Mellencamp Receives Test Results After Having A Mole On Her Back Removed Due To Suspected Skin Cancer

One week after a doctor removed a mole on Teddi Mellencamp's back due to suspected melanoma, the Real Housewives star, 40, announced her results.

"It's good news: melanoma in situ which means the cancer cells were contained in that area of my skin and have not spread any deeper!" she wrote on Instagram alongside a selfie. "I feel blessed and relieved but also grateful to have diligent friends and doctors to watch out for me."

The mom-of-four will still have checkups every three months and is making sure to always wear sunscreen and protective clothing.

"I really hope that in sharing all of this, I can encourage all of you to get your skin checked annually— if I hadn’t gone in, I don’t want to think about how it could have gone differently," she wrote. "Our skin is something a lot of us take for granted but not me anymore— and I hope not you either."

Costar Crystal Kung Minkoff commented on the post "Yeah!!!!!!!!" while Dorit Kemsley posted an emoji of praying hands.

On March 17, Mellencamp admitted she had been avoiding seeing a dermatologist out of "anxiety," but when costar Kyle Richards saw the mole and noticed "it had changed colors again, she immediately took me to the doc within minutes."

She shared a photo of the mole and what her skin looked like right after the procedure.

At the time, the cookbook author tried to distract herself while she awaited the test results.

"I am doing my best to stay present and positive as I head to [film] today. Grateful that I am busy to keep my mind from racing as I await the results," she said. "I find strength in being honest with you all and hope this helps others. Please let this be a reminder to take action on your own skin."

The situation came as quite a shock to the podcast host since she's spent countless years as a lifestyle coach. Just last month, she revealed she gained 10 pounds while competing on Celebrity Big Brother, so she vowed to restart a healthier routine.

"It's not about a number on the scale but how I feel when I am eating clean and taking care of my body and mind — my anxiety decreases," she shared. "Today I am posting to hold myself accountable to making my overall health a priority again."
