Tia Mowry is almost nearing the end of her fourth decade — but she's not nervous to turn the big 50 in a few years. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

"I am very grateful. I'm not afraid. If anything, I look at getting older as a blessing. I look at getting older as a gift because not many people make it to where I am, meaning 46 years old. Each day is a blessing for me, and I really think what has shaped my world is walking in gratitude. I'm grateful and excited about getting older. Age is nothing but a number," the actress, who is partnering with AbbVie for The Eczema Experience: Stories Itching to Be Told — a pop-up experiential event happening on October 8-9, 2024, at Flatiron Plaza in NYC — exclusively tells Morning Honey.

Tia Mowry is 'excited' to get older!

The Sister, Sister alum, who rose to fame alongside twin sister Tamera Mowry in the '90s, has been in the business a long time, but she always makes sure to be her true self. "I think there's magic when you walk in your authenticity," she shares. "And when you walk in your truth and when you start to understand that you don't depend on other people for your happiness — your happiness starts with you."

"It starts with you just being one with yourself and just learning more about yourself," the star, who split from Cory Hardict in 2022, continues. "I feel like when you have a relationship with yourself, that is the best relationship you can have with anyone. I think when you work on yourself, it helps you have better connections with others. What I'm really passionate about is about inspiring and encouraging other people — but you have to look within first. It starts with self and seeing what are some of the areas and the ways I can grow to be a better person or even reach my potential. Once you do that, you are able to have better connections with the people within your community or circle."

Since Tia, who shares son Cree and daughter Cairo with ex Cory, feels like her best self as of late, she is a better mother, friend, entrepreneur — and even a better actress. "It's crazy! I didn't learn this on my own. I'm a huge advocate for mental health as well, so I have an incredible support system with my therapists, and I've been able to work on myself and work on my mental health and grow as a person," she notes.

The mom-of-two, who recently released Tia Mowry: My Next Act earlier this month, got the chance to open about motherhood and her busy life in the new series — but it wasn't always easy to reflect on the past.

"At times it was a little overwhelming. If I'm being transparent, it was triggering, but then at times it was so freaking liberating and exciting!" she exclaims. "It was almost like a therapy session. It's important for all of us to be able to express ourselves and our feelings. Everybody has a story and everybody can learn and grow from your story."

Tia remembers how one woman at the airport thanked her for being so candid about her life, which has changed drastically in the past few years. "She was inspired by my story because she didn't feel alone, and that is one of the main reasons on why I decided to do this show. I want us to see how we're all connected," she exclaims. "There's healing in vulnerability, there's healing in sharing your story. I got so many messages saying, 'I see you. I believe in representation. You are giving me courage and strength.' I truly believe that fame without purpose is dangerous. If all eyes are going to be on me, let's use it in a positive way!"

"I wanted the show to represent what I'm going through in my life, and I feel like this is my third trimester of my life. We all have different chapters, we all have different trimesters, we all have our next acts," she adds. "It's about self-discovery and understanding why I'm here."

The star wants to be 'transparent' about what's happening in her life.

Since Tia is all about being an open book, it made sense for her to be so honest about her own journey with eczema, which is why she is partnering with AbbVie for The Eczema Experience: Stories Itching to Be Told — a pop-up event, which will immerse visitors in the emotional, physical and social realities of living with eczema through a powerful, multisensory experience, taking place in the Big Apple.

"I am one in 31 million Americans that suffer from eczema. I really understand the challenges that come along with it. I'm excited to partner up with AbbVie on this initiative. My main goal with this whole partnership is to bring awareness. I wasn't properly diagnosed for a very, very long time, and I think that happened because I wasn't educated about it. I didn't have resources. I think it's important for AbbVie to have this cool experience in New York City to bring awareness."

The event combines "art, science and personal stories" to highlight the physical emotional and social challenges that comes with having eczema, a chronic skin condition that causes inflammation, redness and irritation, she explains. "There are some really cool interactive elements to this experience, and there are expert insights to help people get a better understanding of what eczema actually is."

Tia Mowry wasn't properly diagnosed with eczema for a long time.

After being diagnosed, Tia was not one to shy away from discussing the topic with her friends. "I was like, 'Girl, that's eczema! Go to your nearest dermatologist and get some questions answered.' Now I am able to help my children who both suffer from eczema. We were able to find the proper solutions to help within our household. I'm just encouraging everyone to do the same," she shares.

"Be an advocate for yourself — and never give up on trying to find the right solutions. Vulnerability is definitely a superpower because the more vulnerable you are, the more knowledge you can take from others," she concludes.
