Exclusive: The Unlocked Foundation, a Women-Founded Nonprofit, Is Redefining What 'Wealth-Building Looks Like' — and Empowering Others!

Money can be sexy — just ask Savaria Harris, Rachelle Laroche, Sabrina Mentor, Nishitha Kambhaladinne and Melissa Dincher, who founded The Unlocked Foundation.

"The Unlocked Foundation is a non-profit that was established in 2022 by a group of women who recognized the persistent gender wealth gap and the systemic barriers women face in achieving financial independence. Through immersive experiences, events and curated programs, the Unlocked Foundation is on a mission to flip the script on what wealth-building looks and feels like, especially for women," Laroche exclusively tells Morning Honey.

According to Harris, the ladies, who knew one another from an employee resource group at work, were all doing well in their professional lives but yet none of them spoke about how much they were earning or talking about salaries in general. "We were all different races and ages and had different professions, careers and even different personal lives in terms of being married or mothers," she shares. "Money was this secret thing that women were supposed to figure out on their own. That struck us as crazy."

Now, the ladies want to flip the script when it comes to discussing this topic.

"The Unlocked Foundation is about 'women building wealth…but making it sexy.' In the same way Sex and the City reinvented the aesthetic around the single woman in her 30s and 40s to make it relatable, aspirational, cool and fun, the Unlocked Foundation aims to do the same for the conversation around money, and is entirely served by volunteer-run professional women with thriving careers," Laroche explains.

Ultimately, the women want others to know "knowledge is the first step to freedom."

"At The Unlocked Foundation, we believe every woman deserves access to the tools that close gaps — whether it’s wealth, opportunity or confidence. Studies show that when women have access to education and resources, they reinvest 90 percent back into their families and communities. When women rise, everyone rises with them," Kambhaladinne says.

Laroche adds, "Through my personal journey, I strongly believe that building wealth begins within. It starts with unlocking the power of your mindset — giving yourself permission to dream boldly, succeed unapologetically and rewrite your own narrative. We empower individuals to recognize their worth, stand firm in their value and approach every opportunity with confidence in their voice and clarity in their purpose. By nurturing self-belief and fostering resilience, we help people step into their potential and create lasting change for themselves. With over 2,100 members across 12 countries, Unlocked has collaborated with the Tory Burch Foundation, Mothers2Mothers, The Met, Chanel, Dior, LVMH and more, with their next free to the public event “DressHer | Fashion As An Asset” at Zero Bond — coming up on May 10.

"It's a free, one-day summit at the exclusive Zero Bond, that offers attendees a front-row seat to numerous panels featuring fashion and wealth-building experts with topics including ‘The Power of Fashion as an Asset,' ‘The Economics of Luxury Goods’ and ‘Unlocking Wealth Through the Resale Market,' with speakers from LVMH, Chanel and more. The venue is already sold out and will be opening its doors for a limited time exclusively for the Unlocked Foundation community," Harris explains. "Dress Her, like all of our Women's Wealth Summits, is designed to be interactive, featuring roundtable discussions on topics such as budgeting, taxes, estate planning and fashion as a commodity. By fostering an environment of open dialogue and continuous learning, we ensure our offerings remain relevant and impactful."

By hosting these various events, the women hope to empower others along the way.

"Feedback has been amazing. We are consistently providing our members with fantastic networking opportunities and events," Harris shares. "One of the most memorable pieces of feedback I recently got from one of our members was that she doesn’t consider herself to be a 'feminist' — which she associated with hating chivalry and even men — but that she loves Unlocked because our events are fun and informative. Her words made me realize that Unlocked is rebranding feminism in a way that reaches a broader community of women. Women’s number one challenge globally is economic equality and Unlocked is fighting that gap in a way that feels fun, relatable and inclusive — defying previous stereotypes about who or how the fight for women’s equality looks."

Laroche adds: "In the next five years, we envision the Unlocked Foundation expanding its reach globally, offering more comprehensive programs and resources to empower women in their financial journeys.
